PLAYING HISTORY: The first time I set foot on a tennis court I fell in love with the sport. Today, many years later, I am still in love. My enthusiasm led me to leagues and tournaments, and resulted in me winning:
• Cross Court Tennis Club Championship
• Dutchess Racquet Club Open Championship
• IBM Country Club Championship (Mixed Doubles, Womens
Doubles, Womens Singles Open)
• Watson Trophy Championship (Mixed/Womens Doubles/
Womens Singles Open)
• Hudson Valley Club Championship
• Bob Davis Classic
• Mental Health Association Tournament
• Poughkeepsie Tennis Club Member - Guest Tournment
• Dutchess County Championship
In addition to all these tournaments, I played on a 4.5 USTA team out of Westchester County and New Jersey. We made it to the Sectionals many times and once missed going to the Nationals by a score of 11-13 in the third set! Even now that still hurts!
TRAINING/TEACHING HISTORY: After receiving many requests for lessons and doing tournaments, I decided to teach tennis professionally since I have so much passion for the sport and enjoy working with people of all ages. I obtained my teaching certification from USPTR, Hilton Head, South Carolina. Attending a tennis teaching conference in New York City during the U.S. Open gave me the opportunity to watch and discuss doubles strategy with the Bryan brothers (Mike, Bob and their dad). My exciting experience of playing doubles with Jared Palmer's sister (Hannah) was a blast! In my 24 years at Cross Court I have met hundreds of wonderful people. Not only from the U.S. but also many from other countries.
ALL-TIME FAVORITE PROS: Martina Navratilova and John McEnroe, in my mind are the best all around players of all time. Winning not only singles but also doubles and mixed doubles on different surfaces and what great commentators!
PERSONAL COMMENTS: My pride and joy are my two daughters. Both Lisa and Karen played number one singles in high school. Karen being the only girl who made and competed in the State Championship in the history of Spackenkill High School. Both my daughters played in college, Division One, Karen being number one singles. Lisa and I played and made it to the sectionals held at the USTA National Tennis Center of the Mother/Daughter - Equitable Championship. Karen and I also teamed up to win the Cross Court Championship. Since the whole family enjoys competition, Karen teamed up with her dad and played the Father/Daughter National Grass Court Championship in Boston and made a great showing! I am also very proud of my community service, which includes:
• Hudson Valley Wheelchair Tennis Tournament (TRI), Director of Awards and responsible for
recruiting and training 40 ball boys and girls each year.
• Mental Health Association Championship, Director of Awards.
• Duchess County Championship, served on the committee for many year.
